How to prevent while carrying passengers in your taxi or private hire vehicle
Taking Precautions:
- wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
- always wash your hands when you get home or into work
- use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
- put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
- try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Cleaning your vehicles:
- consider increasing the frequency of your vehicle cleaning regime
- focus on the following areas of the vehicles which receive the most regular physical contact:
- Door handles
- Handrails
- Head rests
- Seat grab handles
- Seat backs
- Seat belts and buckles
- please bear in mind that using too much water/liquid whilst cleaning may make interiors damp and increase ability of germs to grow
- ensure wet floors and ramps are dry before passengers board
